  • Great Video, this is the first practical video for making a Soldering Iron with basic parts. Believe it or not, there are situations (Like Prison) that call for using what you got to get the job done. In prison, the wire can be retrieved from the element of the HotPots or Stingers that are sold. Usually find a bad hot pot and gut the element for the Nichro Wire. The 12 Volt adapters can be grabbed from various sources but need at least 2 Amps. Great Job Dude.

  • Good idea but u need to calculate heater resistance first, Usb port supplies 1Amp current if heater draws more usb port will damage.

    • he wasn't using usb. he hooked it up to 12 volts! usb is 5 volts. but you are right about doing the math.

  • Or, just use an old catalytic converter O2 sensor. Most have heaters in them and they are 12V. Just make an insulated handle for it because they get hot enough to solder with.

  • Este cautíl cómo se puede fabricar pero a mi manera de very dentro de lo práctico no sirve para soldar sirve para recuperar elementos de alguna tarjeta para desoldar pero para soldar no sirve es demasiadamente caliente y la punta no sostiene la soldadura las puntas de estar permanentemente untada de soldadura desde Colombia con todo cariño y con mucho respeto
